Environmental Planning & Management for the new Naga Hammadi Barrage, River Nile

The NKUK Environment Director was appointed as the member of the Panel of Experts (PoE) responsible for environmental and social issues related to the design and construction of a new $380 million barrage at Naga Hammadi. Two tasks were undertaken, as follows:
- As a PoE member, to provide environmental and social advice and guidance to the Egyptian Government and their consultants as the project proceeded through detailed design and construction.
- As a consultant, to undertake a retrospective review of the development of the Naga Hammadi project, to determine its compliance with the recommendations of the World Commission on Dams (WCD).
