Libya
Period: 2007-2008
Client/Finance: British Gas (BG) Libya
BG Libya holds an exploration license for Area 123, Blocks 1 and 2 located in the Sirte Basin, Libya. As part of their exploration drilling programme, BG Libya were required to determine local groundwater conditions, in order to satisfy regulatory concerns and authorities that there would be no adverse effect on the Great Man Made River Project (GMRP).
Nippon Koei was required to liaise with various local authorities and organisations such as the Great Man Made River Authority (GMRA) and the Sirte Agricultural Project. A reconnaissance survey of the area was also conducted in order to identify aspects of the existing environment which may affect the hydrogeological conditions.
