Nippon Koei is working on this project with Engineering Consulting Office for Utilities (ECOU) in Libya. The objective of the study is to describe the existing conditions within the coastal strip extending from Ras Al Tien in the west and the Egyptian border in the east (approx 4000 km2). The assessment of the conditions will be used as the baseline for the subsequent preparation of master plans for the development of coastal tourism. The scope of work is divided into two phases:
Phase 1 Remote sensing reconnaissance of the area as a basis for the preparation of a GIS. Preparation of a video and still photograph description of the coastal area.
Phase 2: Compilation and review of existing data relating to the biotic and physical environments, archaeological and historical heritage and infrastructure.
