Renun Hydroelectric Power Development and Associated Transmission Line
Indonesia
Period: 1983-2006
Client/Finance: Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC)
The Project diverts the Renun river and its tributaries to Lake Toba for power generation. By harnessing water discharge of 9.6 m3/sec., and a water head of about 500 m created by the water diversion, the Project can produce 313.5 GWh/year of energy. A 82 MW power station is being constructed on the lakeside and tail water discharged from this power station is to be utilized for incremental power generation at the existing Asahan No.2 power station (603ハMW) and other proposed power stations (of 180 MW and 400 MW) to be developed in series on the Asahan river.
