The second Drainage Project for Environment Improvement in Hanoi follows the First Stage project aiming at completing the drainage system of the To Lich river basin. The implementation period is proposed from 2007 to 2012, in which the construction period is proposed from 2008 to 2011.
The objectives of the Project are as follows:

To reduce flood damage risk in the To Lich river basin by adopting a 10-year storm return period for the rivers and stormwater channels, and a 5-year design storm return period is for the sewers;

To prepare the feasibility study and EIA reports for the construction of large scale central wastewater treatment plants in order to serve the central urban area of Hanoi;

To develop the facilities management and maintenance of the drainage system; to train and enhance the staff capacity, organisational mechanism and legal system for management works of drainage system; and
-
To improve the environment of the To Lich river basin.
