The objective of the project was to obtain a clear picture of the present state of the Dhaka to Chittagong main line. This included assessment of line capacity and its utilisation and identifying the realities of present day-to-day performance. This identified problems of existing infrastructure condition and maintenance as well as poor availability and reliability of locomotives and rolling stock.
