NKUK was commissioned to undertake the environmental and social impact studies for the feasibility study for the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP). NKUK conducted environmental and social investigations along the entire 4,300 km length of the pipeline route from the Niger Delta to the Mediterranean coast.
The services provided by Nippon Koei UK were as follows:
Scoping at an early stage in the study with two objectives:
- To contribute to the route selection activity, which identified the three alternative routes, in particular, to identify any environmental 'show-stoppers' at that stage.
- To identify the major environmental issues in order to refine the rest of the environmental studies. (Those potential issues which do not require further study were also identified.)
