Nippon Koei UK provided the Environmental Specialist on a project team assembled by ADB to conduct a Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) for the Rajasthan Urban Sector Development Program in north-west India.
The main objective of the PPTA study was to design a project through which ADB could assist the Government of Rajasthan in promoting social and economic development in selected towns in the State.
The objective of the environmental study was to assess the environmental impacts of all components of the project and devise measures to avoid or mitigate all negative impacts. All studies were conducted in compliance with the national laws of India and ADB Environment Policy (2002) and Environmental Assessment Guidelines (2003).
