Kisumu-Lessos-Olkaria Transmission Line Upgrading Project

This project is a JICA SAPROF study relating to the proposed Kisumu - Lessos - Olkaria transmission line. NKUK Environmental Specialist was responsible for the environmental issues, i.e. conducted an environmental scoping study, advising the Kenya Power and Light Company (KPLC), monitoring the EIA consultants, reviewing the ESIA, etc.
Also made an environmental comparison of two alternative routes, one of which would pass through the Mau Forest Complex (and has been rejected). Also, we have made amendments to the favoured route, in order to avoid Lake Nakuru National Park and various settlements and farms.
